The main objective of MAPU Association is to encourage and promote cooperation and development projects within the Argentinean and Chilean Patagonia communities aimed at fostering the local self sufficiency, and at augmenting their resources and ability for positive and sustainable development.
According to its Statute, the MAPU Association was founded to pursue, especially in the Argentinean and Chilean Patagonia, the following objectives.
To promote and carry out self sustainable and solidarity economy actions, projects and programs in the Argentinean and Chilean Patagonia in particular and in any other developing region in general, aimed at improving the local life quality, health, education and communication, and at augmenting the rural and native communities resources and capacities.
To carry out awareness, fair development, education and solidarity actions, projects and programs in order to change the unfair relations which currently occur in the economic, commercial, political and social fields in the regions where MAPU is active.
To promote the use of new technologies, especially informatics and telecommunications, among the local communities in order to facilitate its use towards development.
To promote the use of renewable energy among the local communities.
To promote international volunteering as a local development tool and as a way of spreading information in other countries about the different issues in the Patagonia region. Also to encourage the training of volunteers.
To cooperate with associations and organizations from Spain and other countries whose aims, objectives and philosophy are in accordance with those of MAPU Association.
In order to achieve these aims, MAPU Association will carry out the following activities:
To promote, evaluate, organize and develop as many activities, actions, programs and projects of cooperation for self sustainable development and solidarity economy within the areas where MAPU is active as necessary.
To raise awareness of the general aims and principles of MAPU Association by organizing meetings, debates, workshops, cultural activities and any other activity to this end.
To make the Association’s projects known and to fundraise to carry them out.
To relate with other organizations, independently of their location, participating in as many meetings as necessary.
To encourage volunteer and team work at all levels of the MAPU Association.
To carry out solidarity projects to make new technologies available, both through material resources and training, to the local communities who do not have access to them.
To promote the creation, acquisition, furnishing and management of social and cultural centres under the responsibility of the Association.
